Oil

“So Elisha said to her, “What shall I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in the house?” And she said, “Your maidservant has nothing in the house but a jar of oil.'” (2 Kings 4:2, NKJV).

The woman discussing with Elisha here was in trouble. Her husband had died and left her with lots of debts to pay. Her creditors had threatened to take her two sons as slaves in exchange for the money owed. So she had to run to Elisha for help. And his response to her plea was, “What do you have…”

It is amazing to see how we look for help outside rather than looking within. We seldom realise how loaded we are with solutions to the challenges that we face. This woman had a jar of oil, but she called it nothing. She didn’t realise that in that jar was contained drums of oil. She only needed to see beyond a jar.

In the same way, your gifts, talents and abilities have the potential to bring you out of that debt you are in. In your gifts lies the ability to prosper you. Just don’t take them for granted. Put them into use. They are tools needed to work out your destiny. They are indicators to what your purpose in life is.

So, may I ask you again; “What is in your hands?” What can you do? Your gifts are anointed to produce multiple effects. Stop taking them for granted. Develop and use them. Remember, your gift can only produce results when you use it to bless others. Thank God for men of God, like Elisha, in our lives who can help us discover, develop and maximise the gifts of God in our lives. Lovely weekend my friend. #‎BeInspired.
