“Be strong and courageous, for you are the one who will lead these people to possess all the land I swore to their ancestors I would give them.” (Joshua 1:6, NLT).
Moses was a great leader with a very impressive resume of great and mighty works he had done. Now there was a young emerging leader who had been mentored by Moses- Joshua. While mourning the death of Moses and contemplating what to do, God started speaking to him.
In fact if I’m to title God’s sermon to Joshua, it would be, “Be strong and courageous”. God kept hammering on it. This is because God knew that in order for him to take the step of filling Moses’ shoes and fulfilling his destiny, Joshua needed to be strong and courageous.
What is the secret of strength? Proverbs 24:5, KJV says, “A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength.” Daniel 11:32b also says that, “But the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.” A strong man is one that is full of divine knowledge and deep insight of who God is and what He can do through men who submit themselves to Him in total obedience. Strength here could also be knowledge (information) gotten from research, counsel, asking questions, etc.
Courage is acting in spite of your fears. It is strength in the face of pain or grief. It is taking that leap into your future even though the resources to make it happen doesn’t seem to be there. God is saying be strong and courageous. Live your dreams in spite of how you feel. Doubts and fear may come, just act your dream. Only men of strength and courage dare the impossible. The consequence is always possibility. Terrific Tuesday my friend. #BeInspired.
