“Realizing how much the man understood, Jesus said to him, “You are not far from the Kingdom of God.” And after that, no one dared to ask him any more questions.” (Mark 12:34, NLT).
In this passage, some Sadducees had come to Jesus to ask Him questions. As usual their questions were designed to trap Him into saying something that will indict Him before the law. On this occasion He answered their question and one of the religious leaders expressed an understanding of Jesus’ teaching through the statement He made. Then Jesus said, “You are not far from the Kingdom of God.”
What could that mean? Note that Jesus was teaching the message of the greatest commandment, which is love for God and man. Having an understanding (revelation) of this message brought the man closer to the kingdom of God. For this religious leader, he needed to be born again to see the kingdom and be born of the Water and Spirit to enter it. He just came close.
For us who are believers, we live in the kingdom of God because the kingdom is in us. But how does understanding of the word of God help us? Understanding helps us know two things. 1. The hope of God’s calling 2. The greatness of His power towards us that believe. This is deep.
What this means is that understanding the message of love, which is the word of God, opens our eyes to know our purpose in life and the endless unlimited power of God made available to us to fulfil purpose and reign in life. Understanding brings you closer to your inheritance in Christ. But it takes applying (faith actions) what you understand to possess your inheritance. Many of us have seen and entered the kingdom but are yet to possess it. Therefore revelation plus faith makes you a master in operating the kingdom. Seek to understand and then act the word. That’s where the secret is. With this you can’t fail in life. How was day my friend? #BeInspired.
