“In the same way, you who are younger must accept the authority of the elders. And all of you, dress yourselves in humility as you relate to one another, for ‘God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.’” (1 Peter 5:5, NLT).
If there is anything you don’t want to live without, it is the grace of God. God’s grace is the ability of God to do for us what we can’t do for ourselves. The atmosphere of grace makes available for us what we ordinarily do not deserve. Grace is that power that makes available “exceedingly, abundantly above all we could ever ask or imagine”.
This is the law of life by which God expects every child of His to live. Grace is an amplifier of efforts. In the world of grace, we learn to depend on God because His plans for us are always more than what our abilities can accomplish. You won’t go far depending on what your qualifications, skills and connections can do for you.
But do you know that you can stop the flow of grace towards your direction? You can when you walk in pride. One of the obvious characteristics of proud people is that they lack grace. They trust in their own abilities and think more highly of themselves than they ought. When you refuse to walk in humility, grace leaks off from your life. Prides naturally set you up for the opposition of God.
God resists proud people. Imagine God not being on your side. No wonder proud people struggle. They believe all their achievements is by their own power. But it doesn’t take long before they are exhausted and broken down. Learn to be humble. Submit to authority, relate with people from the standpoint of humility. Pride produces a fowl odour and people can perceive it from afar. And when they do, you lose them and any favour they would have shown towards you. Humility is the character of a god. Wear it everyday because it sets up an atmosphere of grace over and around you. #BeInspired.
